The mystery of the start of season social continues.  Upon asking the newly appointed Social Sec Aidan where the social was to take place 1am the night before and all he said was “ I dunno it’s somewhere in the bay” I started along with other people to get a little nervous to whether the social was a complete mystery even to himself! However, fear not a text came through with a challenge to all takers to arrive in the bay at 4pm armed with flat shoes as a Treasure Hunt around Cardiff Bay had been arranged.

On Sunday Kate Brewer, Aidan Dickson, Amy Holloway, Matt Hurford, Kate Saunders, Laura Taylor and Stuart Wood  went walking in the Brecon Beacons.

After locating everyone (not as easy as it sounds without mobile reception) we set off! The first climb from Neuadd Reservoir up to the ridge that that leads to Corn Du got everyone going and cleared the Saturday night hangovers.  Plenty of banter and stories followed with discussions of legendary korfball socials and skiing high on the agenda.

Following lunch on the ridge we reached Corn Du in the cloud.  The weather didn’t dampen our spirits and cleared by the time we neared Pen y Fan. For some members of the group it was the first time they’d actually walked up Pen y Fan despite thinking they’d completed it before walking up Corn Du!!

We quickly climbed Cribyn and Fan y Big before heading back to our start point.

Meeting in the Prince of Wales everyone gathered with their hats in tow for the start of the mystery social (however, the biggest mystery is why our chairman managed to start at the Gate Keeper!) With no one knowing what was going to happen Elaine dished out the wonderful home made maps to start the intrigue! With many people not obviously passing GSCE Geography this caused more bemusement about where we were going and what the committee had in store for the evening. Led to believe only one person guessed where we were going was Holly (you clever thing!)

Leaving the Prince of Wales everyone made their way over to the Millennium Stadium and under the bridge to our boat for a private night cruise of the bay! Decorated in blue and white  the party started with a wonderful presentation of last season highlights crafted by Ramzi and Stu (click here if you want to see it again!)

All you need to know is to be at the Prince of Wales pub for 7PM this Saturday 13th October.

We will be leaving the Prince of Wales at 7.30PM sharp, if you’re not there you will miss the rest of the evening.

Bring a hat.
