With 12 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in the Oxford, Wales and West 2012-13 regional league season, Cardiff City qualified for the Champions Trophy or ‘CT’. This two-day tournament caps off the indoor season for korfball in the UK and sees other regional league winners and national league bottom team Croydon battle it out for two places in next season’s England Korfball National League.
The Korflite outdoor summer league is back for 2013, the International Korfball Federation’s Year of Youth. Cardiff City Korfball Club will be organising a Youth Korflite session for children of all ages to run alongside the regular summer league.
The 2012/13 league season has come to an end with both City teams riding high with victories in the end of season gala day at Glamorgan Sport Park.
Cardiff City second team “the Mavericks” started their celebrations with a resounding 22-11 win over Cardiff Dragons 2. But for two unfortunate forfeits earlier in the year this win would have seen them second in the league behind the mighty City 1 Cyclones.
Only an hour later the Cyclones faced Cardiff Uni’s formidable first team. The Cyclone’s game started with a crisis of confidence, due to a lack of the usual regulars, however substitutes called up from the Mavericks team (and still buoyed up by their earlier victory) soon showed that City are a force to be reckoned with at all levels, with a solid 24-17 victory.
All in all it was a great day of Korfball in Cardiff, with fantastic results for City and a highly respectable fight put up by opponents Cardiff Uni and Dragons. City followed the matches with a celebratory night out in Cwtch and Pizza Express in Cardiff Bay, bringing a fine end to the day. Bring on the next season!
Over 100 year seven pupils at Michaelston Community College recently tried a new, fast paced, mixed team sport where boys and girls work together to score goals

We’ve just been informed by Michaelston school that the facility is currently closed due to the weather, so unfortunately that means training tonight is cancelled. Sorry to dissapoint you all… see you all tomorrow (24th Jan) for traning at Glamorgan Sports Park.
Cardiff City Mavericks started 2013 with a convincing win against Cardiff University 3rds but narrowly lost to Cardiff Dragons 1sts. Cyclones then revenged Maverick’s loss by beating Dragons in the Korfball Regional League the following day.

Cardiff City Cyclones and Mavericks teams both started their 2012-13 campaigns in the Welsh Korfball League with convincing wins.
Last month, Cardiff City sent a squad to compete at the IKF Europa Cupa Preliminary Rounds.
Victory in the Welsh Korfball League Gala Day meant the Cyclones team qualified for the early season Europa cup preliminary round.
The squad – many of whom were making their debut at international level – travelled to the beautiful Loire region of southern France on Friday following a series of training sessions to ensure they were as prepared as possible.
