We are Cardiff City Korfball Club, the oldest independent korfball club in Wales and we’ve been a part of the Welsh korfball scene since 2002.
What is korfball?
Korfball is a dynamic mixed-gender team sport. It’s often compared to basketball or netball, but it’s a sport with its own specific rules and style of play. One of the unique rules is that you’re not allowed to shoot the ball while defended, which puts an emphasis on quick decisions and teamwork to create shooting opportunities. It’s also a role equality sport, which means there are no fixed positions, and everyone gets an opportunity to both attack and defend. More details can be found here: What is Korfball?
I’ve never played before – can I still join?
Absolutely! We welcome new members of all abilities, and some of our best players had never played korfball before when they joined our club.
Can I do this to be social?
Korfball may be what brings us together, but it’s not all that we do and it’s a great opportunity to meet people and make new friends. We organise a range of socials throughout the season, and in the past these have included things like laser tag, bowling, karaoke nights, pub quizzes, go karting or even Eurovision watch parties! This is in addition to the usual assortment of Christmas meals and club awards nights.
OK, I’m interested. How do I get involved?
We train regularly throughout the season, and your first four sessions will be free, so there’s no reason not to try it out!
Our training sessions are currently:
Tuesdays | |
20:30 – 22:00 | Jubilee Hall, Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff CF11 9SW Google Maps |
Thursdays | |
19:30 – 21:30 | Main Hall, Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff CF11 9SW Google Maps |
Details of which specific sessions are still running can always be found on the training calendar, and we recommend checking this to confirm a session is still running before turning up.
There’s no requirement to register or formally join the club before attending your first session, but you are welcome to get in touch with us to let us know you want to come along through our social channels:
