The club hosted a charity tournament in partnership with our sponsors, The National Centre for Mental Health. The aim of the event was to ‘Take a Shot at Stigma’. Through team entries, cake sales, and a raffle, we managed to raise over £200 for South Wales based mental health charity Hafal whilst NCMH were able to conduct mental health research with the players at the tournament.
An enjoyable evening was had by all ten teams taking part, with many people trying korfball for the first time. There were prizes for the winners plus those with the best team names and fancy dress. The final was won by Cardiff University’s “Hawaii 4-0” who stole the crown away from Cardiff City & Met’s “#BrightLiveMatter” – who had made a special effort with their high-vis costumes.
We are looking forward to our next Korf-Lite event which will be the Beach Korfball tournament on Saturday May 26th. Keep an eye out for more fundraising projects coming soon!
