Meeting notes
Meeting times
Plans for the scheduling of committee meetings were discussed. It was proposed that the committee aim to meet every two weeks initially, then less frequently. An in-person meeting held on Tuesdays before training was suggested.
Unfilled committee roles
Committee roles still to be filled following the 2026-7 AGM were the Social Secretary and Social Media Secretary. Maria, as the Recruitment Secretary, offered to create social media content on a temporary basis and monitor DMs. Chris Roberts offered to create match result posts and support with other content creation.
Action: Jo to put out communications to the wider club about the committee roles that had been filled at the AGM and those that were vacant.
WKA AGM
The committee discussed potential issues and ideas to raise at the upcoming WKA AGM, namely:
- A feeling that last season had a low number of matches which were not well spaced from each other
- A request to keep all teams in one league to increase the number of matches and allow all teams to play each other
- A request to avoid teams hosting on days in which they are not playing
- A comment that referee mentoring has been a success
- A request for Level 2 coach training
Action: Jo to send communications to club members about the WKA AGM and invite them to attend.
Awards
A date of Friday 4th September was proposed for holding our 2025/6 Awards night.
Wahaca was suggested as a possible venue as it has semi-private spaces available. Maria offered to look into this as an option.
Coaching
The committee appointed Rebekah Vettasseri as Head Coach.
Regular meetings for coaches would be organised. The idea of having guest coaches was discussed, as was increasing the intensity of training and improving warm ups.
It was proposed that it should be a goal for the club this season to win the Welsh National League.
Media day
There was some discussion around hosting a Media Day to generate content for posting on social media. This would ideally be arranged part way through the season so that new members for the upcoming season could be included.
Beach korf
The possibility of doing an additional Tuesday session of beach korf was discussed
Action: Jo to email Cardiff Beach Volleyball to enquire about this.
2027 tournament
Some initial discussions were had around the idea of hosting a summer korfball tournament in 2027 to celebrate the club’s 25 year anniversary.
Kit
The possibility of releasing a new club kit in 2028 was discussed. An action was taken to gauge interest from members.
Coach membership discount
The conditions around the provision of a discount on membership rates to coaches was discussed. It was proposed that a threshold was set for the number of sessions led by a given coach at which they would become entitled to a discount on their membership rate. Membership fees could be paid upfront and a discount given retrospectively after the threshold was met.
