Cardiff City Korfball club are celebrating following their Cyclones team winning the Welsh local league, South West and Wales regional league and the Welsh Cup.

Cyclones achieved the triple with two wins out of two in the Welsh Cup held on 28 April 2012. Cyclones beat both Cardiff University and Cardiff Dragons with two very tough games, winning 11-5 and 18-10 respectively.

Zoe Rose, Chair of Cardiff City Korfball Club commented, “We are so happy with our three titles. The Welsh Cup produced two very close matches so we were really pleased to have come out with winning the cup for the second successful time.”

“Winning the treble shows the huge depth in our squad and I am very proud of our club.”

Cyclones were unbeaten during the regional league where they played teams from Bristol, Oxford and Cardiff. Cyclones were only beaten once during the local league to another Cardiff City team – the Mavericks.

Winning the regional league meant that Cardiff Cyclones automatically qualified for the Champions Trophy and playing for the chance to be part of next season’s National League. Unfortunately due to personal commitments Cyclones were unable to attend but wish Bristol City Korfball Club all the best in the competition.
