The 7th of August saw Cardiff City earn bragging rights for having the guts (or is it stupidity) to play korfball outside on the hottest day of the year. With all manner of other bizarre sports going on around us, (touch rugby and rounders with cricket bats to name but two) we at least didn't feel too out of place erecting our giant posts. All the regulars turned up but without the handful of casuals we're used to there wasn't quite enough players for a full size game. Still, there was plenty of action in the 4 v 4 v 4 'go attack one team once you get the ball of the other' version of Kball we've invented. The girls took it in turns to pester the bemused locals into taking away a flyer while the lads showboated on the pitch. 70 minutes in the sun was long enough to tire everyone and
gather a small crowd of onlookers. Some brave souls even took it upon
themselves to join in - at which point we realised a ref would have been a good
idea. Maybe we'll get some new players, maybe we won't, but either way it was a
good laugh and all credit to Elaine for dragging us out there.
