City travelled to Notts looking for a good last tournament of the summer, however, some quality opposition soon brought some reality to the proceedings. Only Rob with a well taken turn could trouble Notts' Premiership National League team and they duly hammered us 13-1. After that, the deficit was reduced to just 8-0 against the misnamed Norfolk & Chance, a game which City never looked to have the appetite for. Better was to come (when some of the team had woken up!) against the British Students team where both Rob and Midge netted against 6. The performance was a great deal better, with City finally moving the ball with some confidence. After seeing the afternoon group fixtures, City perked up a bit, with opposition more in our league. Exactly our league as it would happen as we started the afternoon against Bristol. Some good passing and some great attacking play was all present, however, the goals were not. Bristol netted their chances well to run out 4-2 winners. City finally managed a lone win next against stingers, Rob C and Midge again on target in a 2-1 result. City by now were playing some very good stuff, one end especially creating numerous chances, but it wasn't to be a day for high scores, as the baskets defeated us again and again. Last up were Leeds, and another game we should have done better in. Dave and Terry finally managed to get on the scoresheet, and Michelle grabbed another, but we still couldn't finish as many chances as Leeds, and we lost 6-4. A good day all in all, however, it did serve as a very clear example of the standards City must reach to compete at this kind of level.
Lastly, a very very big hug to the lovely Cat Mills who played for us all day!
All round top lass!
