The City second VIII began the year looking to avenge their only defeat of the season so far, a default 10-0 loss to a Horfield side near the top of the table.

The opening attack took a short while to find their feet, but it was Max who opened the scoring with nicely taken long veering shot, and after the equaliser Taff showed a bit of speed and thanks to a timely feed from Elen, was able to reclaim the lead with a short effort.

The match would see-saw back to Horfield as a long and a short effort gave them the lead at 3-2, only for Max to land an enormous effort from the half way line, and Taff to pop one in from under the post and give the lead back to City. A chance for the first two goal cushion of the game was missed as a penalty went astray and half time arrived at 4-3 Cardiff.

Holly's distance goal early in the second half did finally open up a 2 goal lead, but in a defence dominated game, Horfield were able to peg us back again and despite some excellent defending, Horfield pulled it back to 5-5 late in the game.

This time however, City were not to give up so easily and Matt's long range goal restored our lead for the fourth time, and this time we kept it. Terry put the last nail in the coffin with a bomb of his own, a fine goal and no more than he deserved after an excellent all-round display.
