The contest to see who was the best second team in Wales was a game that ended up much closer than it should have been, as City proved much more adept at creating chances than they were at taking them. The Uni team was quick and athletic and contained a handful of experienced players (including black-hearted traitor, Jack) but had a tendency to over-commit and get caught out of position. City were much more disciplined in defence and allowed very few shots to be made all game - unfortunately those that were made, were pretty accurate.

City began well, and had already missed several good chances before Cally gave them the lead from close range. But they were unable to build on that lead as several other shots bounced out and a penalty went astray. The defence at the other end finally cracked and it was 1-1. However, Susie managed to regain the lead for City before half-time. The second half saw both teams shooting improve. Ian missed a penalty, before making up for it with a well taken goal, before Josh's running in-shot made it 4-1, and a comfortable City lead. The Uni kept going though, and Kristina finally managed to beat Susie to cut the deficit to two. The defence of Katherine, Cally, James and Josh had been very solid all game, not conceding any goals at all, and they carried this on, while Susie re-established the three goal cushion, and then Zoe and Ian worked a textbook move for Zoe's second goal in consecutive matches. At 6-2 , City eased off a little, and the students managed to pull a bit closer with two long range efforts, but City's victory was never in doubt, and a third successive triumph put them top of the league.

Both ends performed well, with Ian, Dave, Zoe and Susie always threatening in attack, and Susie particularly impressive given that (for the second match in a row) she was playing against one of the players chosen for the EKL team of the year last season. The other end was superb in defence, and with some more clinical shooting could have contributed a few more goals as well.
