The City seconds bounced back from their defeat by Taunton to claim an impressive 11-3 win over their student counterparts.
Giving second team regulars the chance to play in the first team has the knock on effect of putting first teamers in the second VIII from time to time, and with Ceri, Susan and Taff all missing from the first team, the seconds had a strong line up.
After falling behind early on, Matt's runner got us going, and as the half progressed, everyone in the City side looked like getting on the scoresheet. Half time came at 5-2, but with all the goals scored by different players. Zoe landed a long shot after getting all her misses out of the way at training, before Sandy and Terry both scored runners. Max's long shot just before half-time rounded off the scoring, although the scoreline might have been higher if we'd managed to sink our penalties!
The second half was better, as the pace of the game picked up a bit, Taff botched his first few running in attempts, but finally landed one. Holly became the seventh Blue on the scoresheet witha rebound put-back, before Ceri and Susan both landed long shots, Susan's coming to rest on the rim for a second or two before dropping in. Taff and Matt became the only players to score more than once, as a runner and a long shot took the score out to 11-3 and comfortable win for City's second string.
