After a good win against Taunton and Draw against Horifield (cough forfeit cough), the Cardiff City Blues turned out for what was an eagerly awaited game against their Cardiff Dragons counterparts. This the first match up between the Cardiff Club's second sides saw the Blue quartet of Max, Aiden, Sandy and Holly attacking against Ian, Rob, Celia and Helen for the dragons. Up the other end, the section including Matt, Lee, Elen and Kristia were tasked with providing some sout defence from the off against Joey, James, Gwenno and Sally. First Half Dragons opened up the game in style with Joey cracking through the sound barrier once again to put a runner past Matt. From here on in though, the story of the half was dominated by City, with first Max, then Kristina (twice) and Holly all scoring in what was a very tight contest . Half Time score; Dragons 1 - 4 City Several substitutions were made at half time for City with Ramzi replacing Lee, and Jude coming on for Sandy. Dragons meanwhile brought on Angharad for Celia, Amy for Sally and Chris for Rob. Second Half The second half began as the first one finished with Holly putting away a short runner past her marker. From here on in, both sides stepped up their play and nearly every oportunity was converted in a very high scoring second half. Chris and Ramzi were the next scorers both putting long shots away. Max then carried on the theme by putting away a monster before Joey put anothe runner past Matt to take the score to 7-3 to City. Matt quickly got his revenge however providing a cool finish after being given space by Ramzi who had moved past his marker and drawn the switch. Helen scored a penalty she had earnt herself before Max completed his hat-trick with a shot that sailed in all the way from the half way line. At this point in the game, we finally saw some use for the endless supply of doctors luking about as Ian popped Holly's dislocated finger straight back in. To top it all, Holly bravely continued to play on for a while before being substitued near the end. Entering into the final few minutes leading 9-4, City were confident of claiming the win. Things got a little more anxious though as first James with a long shot and then Ian from a very clever pass from Chris closed the gap. However, Matt then effectively sealed the game for City with a long shot to take the lead to 10-6. Despite Joey's hat-trick score to bring it back to a three goal gap, City held on for a fine win.
Finally, thanks to Jack for reffing the game
