The start of the new season will start with indoor training on Wednesday 1st September at our usual venue of Michaelston Sports Hall from 7pm until 9pm. Spread the word!

Summer Break & Cardiff Tournament

After another successful season behind us, CCKC goes on a well deserved summer break. Training will resume in Sept at Michaelston Activity Centre at the usual time of 7pm.

Meanwhile, preparations for our Cardiff Summer Tournament are well underway. For more information such as: the venue, food and social organised for the day/evening; please visit the ‘Tournament’ page at the top of the page.

Bristol Tournament Report

Despite a horribly early start (for a Saturday) eight Cardiff City players made their way to Bristol for the annual Bristol City Korfball Tournament. The spotlight was on us, Cardiff City having won the tournament twice already in its short eight year history. Despite numerous complaints that the sun wasn’t as scorching as ordered (it was only 9:30 in the morning) we warmed up for our first match of the day…

Wales Team Announced

Following on from the Wales trials held on the 15th May in Cardiff, coach Dave Buckland has announced the Welsh Korfball Squad members who will compete in the upcoming European Championships. From the 15 squad members selected, an impressive 5 play for CCKC.

Players from CCKC: Ramzi Barbir, Susan Belfourd, Zoe Gabica, Chris Gubby, Ceri Jones.
Plyers from other korfball teams: Hannah Ager, Carla Bennett, Dave Buckland, Ruth Campbell, Karen James, Kevin Jones, Jack McNamara, Tonya Richards-Clarke, Nick Wilkins, John Williams.

Well done to all for their successful trials and good luck in the upcoming events and IKF European Championships.

Outdoor Training

From Wed 12th May onwards, CCKC’s training sessions will be outdoors (at the same venue). If the weather is bad, we will train indoors.

Please remember to bring both your astros and trainers.

Regionals (WKA leg)

This past Saturday Cardiff City’s first team, the Cyclones, played the WKA leg of the regionals. Opponents this time round were to be SWKA2 and OKA1. Unfortunately, Exeter could not attend, nor did their replacement Bristol City.

Never the less, Cyclones played 2 matches, the first against OKA2 (which they played in the last leg) and OKA1 which consisted of a mixture of players from several clubs. Cyclones won both matches!

Well done all for playing so well, even though the Cyclones team does not practice together as much as they would like. Having won 4 out of 4 Regionals matches, CCKC have qualified to the Champions Trophy. However, as not enough players are available for that weekend, CCKC has had to pull out.

WalesToEurope website launched

The WKA has launched the “WalesToEurope” website, which is aimed at promoting fund-raising, news, player & tournament information and sponsorship for the upcoming European Championships 2010 held in The Netherlands.

Referee practical qualification

This past Sunday (28/02/10), Ceri Jones and Ramzi Barbir refereed the university’s second team Nationals, held in Tal-y-bont, Cardiff. The aim was to get assessed by veteran referee Dave Bond and hopefully pass their practical qualification.
